Skills Advancement

Regardless of your current skill level, you will feel right at home surrounded by amateur and pro photographers. The Sydney Photography Workshops are a perfect way to increase your skill level under the tutoring of professional photographer Ashley Smith. From image story telling to camera settings, it is a great way to practice your craft while being in an environment to ask questions and get instant answers.

Networking

Being surrounded by photographers from beginner to professional levels and having access to a wide array of models, is the perfect environment to network with others in your field of hobby or profession. We personally have used students as 2nd and 3rd shooters on professional commercial shoots and we encourage the students to arrange personal shoots with the models to help build their confidence and portfolio.

The Format

Each Portfolio workshop consists of 3 groups of 6 students. Each group will have a model and after 35mins the groups swap. This way everyone gets to photograph 3 models during the 2 hours. Each model will have their own scenario to work with and a range of props to incorporate into the shoot. For example at our March 7th Workshop we had Fitness Blogger, Fashion Influencer and Lifestyle Blogger.

The idea behind this format is to help the students develop their story telling skills. Giving them 3 different scenarios that need slightly different skill sets to accomplish the story. It is a subtle way to increase the skills swell as make the workshop more fun and interesting.

Each Beginner Photography workshop consists of 10 students and 1 model. The smaller class size allows for more of a personal tutorial concentrating on the fundamentals of photography.
